mocha club: helping those in need.

Hey everyone!
My good friend Julie, at From Awkward to Art, is here today to share
something that is near and dear to her heart. Please take a few minutes
to read and watch her video. We really can make a difference.
If you know me or have read my blog at all for any length of time,
you know that my heart is deep for helping the broken, the hurting, the destitute...
and those stuck and bound in lifestyles and addictions they so desperately need rescue from.
Whether it be depression or drug addiction, whether it be poverty or human trafficking..
I have always wanted to see people through God's eyes.
When I was nineteen years old, after coming home from a missions trip to Albania,
I remember coming arcross a man walking along the street who wreaked of alcohol,
who looked skinny and lost in his world of addiction and he looked hopeless,
even though he may have not even realized it.
My heart broke that day. I start sobbing to my mom. And it was then that I cried out
and asked God to give me His heart, a heart of compassion.
Today that heart has brought me to do something I have never done before.
I have started a project of my own for the month of February called Suburbia to the Streets Project.
If you would take a few minutes to watch my video, I will explain a little more about my
personal project and how one day I came across an organization called Mocha Club and
decided I wanted to help.
Between my personal facebook account, my blog readers, email contacts, twitter followers...
I have well over 2500 people. If only 80  of those people could give
at least $10 to help rehabilitate one precious woman and give her a fresh start,
that would cover my goal for the month of February,  the $800
I need to help TWO women off the streets.
This is my birthday wish this year.
160 people give $5
80 people give $10
40 people give $20
20 people give $40
I have confidence that together we can help two women and give her & her family a new
chance at life and love and caring for her family.
Things I want you to know about Ethiopia:
Understanding the Sex Industry in Ethiopia: In Ethiopia, the sex industry is often linked with deep levels of generational poverty and financial hopelessness. Lacking meaningful resources and a sense of hope, many young women and ever girls, resort to becoming sex workers as a means of supporting themselves and their families. These women are often desperate to leave the sex industry but remain trapped by a lack of opportunity and rehabilitative support.*ONE of NINE women are trapped in the sex industry in the capital city of Addis Adaba *THREE of FOUR contract HIV/AIDS *Children are endangered and left home alone at night Here are the details of the care they will receive: *Individual and group counseling *A twelve step addiction recovery program *Pre- & Post HIV Counseling and testing *Daily Devotions and Bible Studies *Skills training and job placement services *Day Care Services *Tuition & schooling for children's education & many more programs that address the unique needs of rehabilitating the women. I will be running this campaign, the Suburbia To The Streets Campaign though the month of February as 'My Birthday Wish.' Anyone who wishes to help me make a difference in the life of TWO WOMEN, can do so by clicking on the donate button any time this month. This will take you to the MOCHA CLUB where all funds raised through me will be totaled!
photo donatebutton_zps31048f94.jpg When I reach MY GOAL of $800 at the end of February, I will join a Milwaukee organization called The Inner Beauty Center  that promotes value and love  in our own streets with our own women.

resolutions in motion: guest post & giveaway!

It's Tuesday and time for a new Resolutions In Motion post! Week one is over, and only five more to go! How are your goals coming along? Feel free to let us know in the comments or link to a post where you wrote about how you are doing.

As for me... my NaNoWriMo goals are coooming along. I haven't met my daily deadline...but now that my hubby has made the trip up north, I'll be having a ton of free time to fill until the girls and I follow him up there. (I plan to make up a lot of the word count during this time.) If you're interested in checking up on me, you can always take a peek at my WriMo profile page. As of this moment, I have logged 8,249 words. =/ Far less that I wanted, but it's something.

Today....we have a special guest to share with you all, Coach Carrie Symes, who is going to give you some tips on how to achieve your goals. She also has a little surprise for you at the end, so read on!

I feel truly honored to be writing a guest post for you all today.

For many of us reaching our dreams or goals just seems like something that you want to do and you just wing it to get there. Sadly many of us don’t reach those dreams or goals that we had set out to achieve. The thing is we just set a goal and that’s it. We don’t plan on how we are going to achieve it or even think that it’s really possible. I’m here to tell you that anything is within your reach if you set your mind to it and establish a few things.
  1. What is your BIG Crazy dream or goal?
    • Yes, I did say crazy because some of your most wild and crazy dreams can come true!!
    • Write them out! Don’t just sit at your computer and type them out, because things are more cemented into our brains with a pen and paper. So, grab a pen and paper notebook and write out what you want to achieve.
    • Get as detailed, specific and clear with what your goal is. “I want to lose weight.” That is not specific. “I want to lose 20 pounds.” Is specific.
  2. Believe with All Your Heart YOU Can Achieve Your Dreams
    • Believe with all your heart and soul that you deserve and are capable of reaching your dreams. You could also look at it as having faith that you will get to your desired destination.
    • Each and every single day that you work towards achieving your dreams you will acquire a deep and burning desire reach your goals.
    • “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
    • By achieving your smaller goals one step at a time you build up your self-confidence and desire to keep moving forward.
  3. Determine Your WHY!
    • What is your why? List all the ways that you will benefit for achieving your goals.
    • These are the reasons that fuel your FIRE! The more reasons you list the better.
    • If you want to lose weight- I have to be healthy in order to take care of my family. If I don’t lose weight I could develop diabetes or high blood pressure. So I can be one hot momma and sexy wife to my husband. I want to look good in skinny jeans. I can’t stand the way I look in the mirror.
    • Write these out and when ever you start getting discouraged pull these out and look over them.
  4. Deadline
    • Set a deadline for your overall goal and write it down. Then break it up into mini deadlines. I will to lose 50 pounds in one year. This is very measurable and attainable because for a healthy weight loss you should lose about 1 pound per week. So, lets break this down further I will lose 1 pound per week.
  5. Get Some Knowledge and Skill
    • If this is something that you have never done before you need to gain knowledge and go beyond what you already know.
    • “What one skill if I develop and did in excellent fashion would help me the most to achieve this goal?” Write that skill down, make a plan and develop that skill daily until you master it!
    • Only YOU have the power to change your life!
  6. Continually See Your Goal
    • See your goal accomplished. What does it look like?
    • Visualize your dreams multiple times a day. Imagine the pride, satisfaction, self-confidence you will have when you reach your goal.
    • Eventually it will become an unconscious driving force that will inspire and motivate you towards your goals day and night!
    • “Dreams are extremely important. You can’t do it unless you imagine it.” –George Lucas
    • Make the decision RIGHT NOW that you will not give up. Because let’s be honest, you will face let downs and set backs. Realizing now in this process that yes things will happen beyond our control that can set us back, but it’s all a learning process and we must dust ourselves off and get right back on board!
    • Right NOW I want you to make a commitment that you will not give up no matter how long it takes you on achieving your goals and dreams!

Writing out these things will help you to achieve your dreams and goals faster than you ever thought possible. I hope you enjoyed this post and pray that ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!
