Hi Ladies! I’m so excited to be a part of Brooke’s Monday Meet Up! I’m Tina and I blog over at Amanda’s Books and More. This is my “reality” parenting blog where you get to meet my family and the star of this blog, Amanda. I’m an American mom raising 4 kids in South Africa. Brooke has put together some cool questions to help you get to know me a bit better.
1. How did you come up with the title of your blog?
Once I decided that my daughter, Amanda, would be enough of a topic to keep me blogging for a long time, I needed to decide on a blog name. If I was going to write a blog about Amanda, then I’d have to write about the things that are important to her. You can read more on this topic at “Choosing a Blog Name.”
2. If there was one blog post that you’d direct your readers to, what would that be?
It’s hard to choose one, but on my “Inspirational Quotes on Living Your Dream” are 3 photos of my kids with inspirational quotes written by me.
3. What is your go-to quick fix meal when you’ve spent too much time on Pinterest/Your Blog been very, very busy?
When I don’t have time to cook, then I usually add canned tuna fish to a salad or to pasta with veggies. Canned tuna is great, because it’s healthy and doesn’t need to be cooked.
4. What is something you’re looking forward to this coming summer?
I’m very excited to share our summer plans with my readers! We will be flying to the States, to Florida to visit some of my family during June and July. It will be winter here in South Africa, so that makes it our winter plans. We’ll also be visiting Disney World and I’ll definitely be writing more about that with lots of tips and links to help others plan their Disney adventure.
5. Do you have any goofy talents or specialties?
I’m double jointed, so I can turn my feet out perpendicular to my body with my heels pressed together.
6. If you could be a character from any book throughout the entire story, what book-what character?
That’s a tough question. I would avoid all trials if I could and just live the happy ending part! Although, I do have a great post about that too called, “Happily Ever After.”
There is one character that always fascinated me since I was a teenager, and that’s Jane Eyre. I read the book three times in my youth, even when it was hard going and I watched the movie that came out not so long ago. The movie didn’t move me as much as the novel, but it was a good movie.
7. What is the best piece of blogging advice that you’ve ever received?
Don’t try to follow all the rules and advice out there, but be the boss of your blog and make decisions that are best for you.
8. What is your biggest dream?
To be a published author (not only self-published) and a singer.
9. What is your favorite Saturday morning like?
Going for a drive in our beautiful countryside and finding a nice place to have a light meal.
10. Why do you blog?
For years I felt like I was completely out of the loop, living in obscurity, while life was passing me by. I desperately wanted to do something more. To a large extent, my gifts and talents were lying dormant (these include writing, photography and singing). There were also personal stories and experiences that were bursting inside of me, waiting to be told. Blogging has given me the opportunity to have a voice and to put some of those talents to work. I also love networking and making new friends. Visit my “About Page” to find out more and to see a couple of family photos.
